Is 65 the new young? It seems to be in The Villages. I’m turning 65 in a couple of months and it feels like a milestone. I can’t wait to receive my Medicare. I feel young most days until I start complaining of my aches and pains to an 80 year old who just tagged me out at first base. I spent my career working as a nurse in a nursing home and I was pretty much convinced that aging was something that you try to prevent or ignored. Boy, I couldn’t have been more wrong. Aging is about coming to terms with your limitations and then moving forward towards new accomplishments. Every day, especially living in The Villages, gives us an opportunity to grow physically and spiritually. There are so many new things to do and so many wonderful people to meet that you almost need to make a spreadsheet. Don’t tell me you haven’t made one. Every day we can choose a new path. It is all about choice. My best advice is:
Don’t look for someone to make you happy. Create your own happiness and find someone to share it with.
