I had the pleasure of visiting with a couple ladies today in Spanish Springs. Did you know that 18 years ago, according to one of the ladies, there were no restaurants in The Villages. She had to travel to Ocala or Leesburg to dine out. Now we have so many wonderful country clubs and restaurants to pick from. We are lucky Villagers. Villager Eats needs some feedback. It was brought to my attention today that people who are single can not take advantage of the BOGO buy one get one deals. Of course, 2 for 1 drinks are not a problem. After all, the word out there is that we are a drinking community with a golfing problem.

Here is the problem. You can buy one meal and get one free but what are you going to do with it? What if you are not going home right away. Maybe you don’t want to eat two meals from the same restaurant. Why don’t the restaurants advertise a percentage off for buying one meal? I spent the afternoon at Sumter Landing today promoting Villager Eats. I met a group of men sitting by the lake who are proud Veterans. They told me that the American Legion here in The Villages is the largest American Legion in the United States. It was mentioned to me how supportive the Suleiman family are to the Veterans. Their kindness and support is greatly appreciated. GOD bless each and every Veteran for risking their lives to keep ours safe.

Yummy Mussels, something you can’t live without. We just had to check out Friday’s special at City Fire. These yummy mussels were served in a tomato basil sauce with crusted bread. The mussels were fresh and the sauce was out of this world. Shannon was our server which made our meal even more enjoyable. She even noticed that my husband was giving me cherries from his drink and she asked me if I needed cherries in my drink. Since I’m all about finding out the happy hour specials to post on this website, she spent time writing down all the information that I needed.
