Heritage Festival

Hi Village Diners!

TGIF!! It’s a perfect time to celebrate our heritage with the Heritage Festival at Lake Sumter Landing tonight from 4:00 – 9:00 p.m. (Friday, October 8th).  Last week we had a chance to visit and celebrate at Spanish Springs, and hopefully the weather holds out so we can celebrate some more at Lake Sumter.  The square is certainly festive with the décor representing countries from around the world and vendors are lining the square, along with food trucks and the Passport Challenge.  Make sure you travel around to the vendors with the special festival logo and receive a stamp in your “passport” so you can get a commemorative Heritage Festival pin.  And don’t forget to check out today’s Dining & Happy Hour Specials over on Friday’s tab here on the website…SO many delicious options!

As I was walking around the square this afternoon, it made me think of my own personal heritage.  Our family has direct descendants that arrived on the Mayflower!  How cool is that?  Between both of my parents’ families, we are the perfect blend of a huge melting pot with a little German, English, Irish, Bohemian, Czechoslovakian and a dash of Native American royalty.  And speaking of my parents…can I just tell you how much fun it’s been living the Village life here with them?! …but we’ll save that for another post.

Did I mention there will be plenty of entertainment tonight also?  The Wonder World Band with Clark Barrios will be center stage to keep us moving to the beat.  If you know me, you know I love to dance after dinner and I will be there!  If you are out and about during the festival tonight, make sure you say Hola! …Bonjour…Ciao…Hallo…or Aloha!  I would love to meet you and hear about YOUR heritage too!

CHEERS!

Enjoy the boardwalk at Lake Sumter after the festival.
